Effective date: August 3, 2026
TrackMyPaw ("we", "us", or "our") operates the TrackMyPaw mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our App.
By using TrackMyPaw, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
Summary: We collect only what we need to run the App — your account details, your dog profiles (you can add more than one dog to your account), walk data (route, distance, duration, optional photos), the care and health records you choose to keep for your dogs, and device location during walks you start. Your dogs' health and care records are private to your account and are never shown to other users. We do not sell your data, do not run ads, do not use analytics SDKs, and do not track you across other apps or websites.
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Display name | Your profile identity in the App; it is also stored with your dogs' leaderboard entries and may be visible to other signed-in users |
| Email address | Account creation and authentication |
| Password | Account security (stored as a hash; we never see your plaintext password) |
| Dog names, breeds, and sizes (you can add more than one dog to your account) | Dog profiles and league assignment |
| Dog health details you enter: date of birth, sex, neutered/spayed status, microchip number, weight and weight history, allergies, ongoing conditions, and notes for the vet | Your dog's health card and the Vet Visit Report — see Section 3 |
| Care records you enter: vaccines (date given, next due, optional photo of the paper record), medications, treatments, care routines, feeding routine, check-offs and skips, and “noticed something” notes | Care schedules, local reminders, care history, and the Vet Visit Report — see Section 3 |
| Photos (profile, dog, walks, vaccine records) | Personalisation, walk memories, and keeping a copy of paper vaccine records |
| Walk titles and notes | Walk journal entries |
| Feedback messages | Bug reports and feature requests |
| Abuse reports you submit (who you reported, the reason, and any details you write) | Reviewing reported content and enforcing our Terms |
| Your block list (the accounts you have chosen to hide) | Keeping blocked users off your leaderboard |
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Precise GPS location (foreground and background, during active walks only) | Map your walk route and measure distance in real time |
| Encoded walk route (polyline of GPS coordinates) | Replay your route on the map and calculate distance |
| Walk metrics (distance, duration, start/end time, XP earned) | Activity tracking and statistics |
| Aggregate statistics (total walks, total distance, total XP, last walk date) | Profile display and challenge progress |
| Weather conditions at your current location, checked when you start a walk and when you open the App (the latter only if you have already granted location permission — the App never asks for permission just to show weather) | Display weather context on walk records and weather-aware care hints on the home screen |
| Timezone (IANA format, e.g. "America/New_York") | Display times correctly and schedule local walk and care reminders |
| Subscription status (whether you have TrackMyPaw Pro) | Unlock premium features |
| Account creation date | Account management |
| IP address (processed transiently by Firebase Authentication) | Abuse and fraud prevention at sign-in; not stored in our application database |
If you sign in with Apple, we receive your name and email address (or an Apple relay email if you choose "Hide My Email"). We respect your choice to hide your email and will never require you to provide your real email address separately.
TrackMyPaw tracks your precise GPS location to record your walk route and calculate distance. Location data is collected:
Continuous location tracking only occurs during an active walk session that you start manually by tapping "Start Walk". We do not perform any kind of ongoing or silent location monitoring at any other time.
There is one further, one-off use: when you open the App, if you have already granted location permission, we read your current position once to fetch local weather for the home screen's care hints (see Section 6.3). This is a single reading, it is not recorded as a route, it is not stored, and the App never asks for location permission just for this — if you have not granted permission, the weather hint is simply skipped.
You may grant "While Using the App" permission instead of "Always Allow"; in that case walks are recorded only while the App is in the foreground and tracking pauses if you lock your screen or switch apps. You can change or revoke location permission at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → TrackMyPaw.
Map tiles are rendered on your device using Apple Maps (via the operating system's MapKit framework). Apple's own privacy practices apply to the map-tile data it fetches; see the Apple Privacy Policy.
Note: Continued use of GPS running in the background can significantly decrease battery life.
TrackMyPaw's Care features let you keep your dog's health information in one place. Care is available in TrackMyPaw 1.2.0 and later; if you are using an earlier version, none of the information described in this section is collected. Everything described here is information you enter yourself about your dog. We do not read anything from Apple Health, HealthKit, a vet's system, or a connected device, and we do not collect health information about you.
Care records may include:
Who can see it. Care and health records are private to your account. They are stored under your own user document in Firebase, protected by security rules that let only your signed-in account read or write them. They are never shown on the leaderboard or to any other TrackMyPaw user, never sold, never shared with advertisers, and never used for profiling. On our side, access is limited to what is needed to run, support, and moderate the service, and the overview figures we work with day to day (such as how many dogs have care set up) contain no personal information.
Vet Visit Report and hand-overs. You can generate a Vet Visit Report — a PDF that combines your dog's care records with walk activity — or a plain-text care summary to hand to a sitter or boarder. These documents are created on your device and are not uploaded to us or to anyone else. They leave your phone only when you choose to send them through the iOS share sheet, and what happens to them afterwards depends on you and the app or service you send them to.
Reminders. Care reminders are scheduled locally on your device by iOS. Reminder times and the text of a reminder are not sent to our servers, and no push-notification token is stored anywhere.
Not veterinary advice. TrackMyPaw records what you enter. It does not diagnose, does not recommend medications, doses, or schedules, and is not a substitute for professional veterinary care. See our Terms of Service.
We use the information we collect to:
We do not use your data for advertising, behavioural profiling, or sale to third parties.
When you use TrackMyPaw, certain information is visible to other authenticated users through the leaderboard:
Your display name is stored alongside your dogs' leaderboard entries and may therefore be visible to other signed-in users.
Your walk routes, walk photos, email address, and all care and health records are never shared publicly.
We use the following third-party services that may process your data:
We use Firebase for authentication, database storage, and image storage. Your data is stored on Google Cloud servers. Firebase does not run analytics or advertising tracking in our App. See Firebase Privacy Policy.
We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and in-app purchases. RevenueCat processes your subscription status, purchase history, and a pseudonymous customer identifier. See RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
When you start a walk — and when you open the App, if you have already granted location permission — we send your current GPS coordinates to the Open-Meteo weather API (api.open-meteo.com) over HTTPS to retrieve current weather conditions, which are shown on your walk record and as weather-aware care hints on the home screen. The request contains only the coordinates and is not linked to your account, email address, or any other identifier. Open-Meteo is a free, open-source weather service. See Open-Meteo Terms.
If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple processes your authentication. Map tiles shown in the App are rendered by Apple MapKit. See the Apple Privacy Policy.
Our website at trackmypaw.app uses Google Analytics to count page visits and to see which pages and buttons people actually use — for example, how many visitors tapped the App Store link. This is website only. The TrackMyPaw app itself contains no analytics whatsoever.
Analytics does not run until you agree to it. On your first visit we ask, and nothing is loaded, no cookie is set, and no request is made to Google unless you choose “Accept”. If you decline, or simply ignore the banner, the website behaves exactly as it would if Google Analytics did not exist. We also honour the Global Privacy Control browser signal automatically, without asking.
When enabled, it records the page you viewed, an approximate location derived from your IP address, your browser and device type, and which of our buttons or links you clicked. Advertising features, ad personalisation, and Google Signals are switched off. We never send your name, email address, or anything about you or your dog to Google — the app’s data is never involved. See the Google Privacy Policy.
Each of these providers processes your data on our instructions under its own agreement with us, and is required to protect it to at least the standard described in this policy. None of them is permitted to sell your data or to use it for advertising, profiling, or any purpose of their own.
The App contains no analytics SDKs, crash-reporting SDKs, advertising frameworks, or cross-app tracking services of any kind. The only analytics anywhere in TrackMyPaw is the consent-gated website measurement described in 6.5 above, which cannot see, and is never given, anything from your account.
Your data is stored in Google Cloud (via Firebase) with the following protections:
image/* MIME typeNo method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we use industry-standard protections, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Walk history and statistics are kept indefinitely to maintain your lifetime records and leaderboard standings, and care and health records are kept indefinitely so your dog's history stays complete for the vet. You can delete an individual care item, log entry, weight entry, or dog at any time inside the App. Abuse reports are retained for as long as needed for moderation and to defend legal claims, even after the accounts involved are deleted. If you delete your account, all your data will be permanently removed (see Section 9).
You can permanently delete your account at any time from within the App (Profile → Delete Account). When you confirm deletion, we delete:
One thing is deliberately kept: abuse reports filed by you or about you remain in our moderation records (the account identifiers involved, the reason chosen, and any details written). We keep them because deleting them would let a repeat offender erase their own history by deleting and re-creating an account, and because we may need them to establish or defend a legal claim. They are not used for any other purpose.
This action is irreversible. If you have an active subscription, deleting your account does not cancel your Apple subscription. The App will warn you in-flight and link you to Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions so you can cancel before proceeding. Apple manages the subscription lifecycle independently of us, and we have no technical ability to cancel it on your behalf.
You can revoke location access at any time in your device's Settings. Without location permission, the walk tracking feature will not function, but you can still browse your past walks and profile.
Walk reminders and care reminders are opt-in and scheduled locally on your device; nothing about them is sent to or stored on our servers. You can enable or disable them at any time within the App or in your device's notification settings.
Most of your personal data (profile, dog details, walks, photos, care and health records) is visible and editable directly inside the App, and the Vet Visit Report gives you an exportable copy of your dog's health and activity history at any time. If you would like a machine-readable copy of all data we hold about you, or wish to correct, restrict, or object to any processing, please contact us at the email address below and we will respond within 30 days.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR, or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), including the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, the right to data portability, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. We do not sell personal information and do not "share" it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
TrackMyPaw is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will promptly delete that information. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately.
TrackMyPaw is operated from Ukraine. Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including the United States (where Google Cloud, RevenueCat, and Apple operate servers) and Ukraine (where our team accesses the system for operation and support). By using the App, you consent to such transfers. Where required by law (for example, for users in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom), we rely on recognised legal mechanisms such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses to protect international transfers.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective date" at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
